Instead of 120 euros, as the beneficiaries of the pension scheme received from March with the decision of the Kurti Government, pensioners today in their accounts have found only 90 euros, as before the pandemic.
Kurti and his finance minister, Besnik Bislimi, had said they would consider extending the 30-euro increase to pensioners, but now that the country has a new government, it does not seem reasonable to do so.
The Kurti government had decided on pensions in March when the pandemic took off in Kosovo. Another convenience was that retirees did not have to physically appear at the relevant pension extension centers.
But which categories of pensioners benefited based on the decision of the Kurti Government
Below you can read the part of the decision on pensions.
“A large number of beneficiaries of pension schemes benefit on a monthly basis less than 100 euros. For all these beneficiaries, the government of the Republic of Kosovo, in the next 3 months will allocate an additional 30 euros on a monthly basis. This group mainly includes beneficiaries of the basic pension scheme, pensions for people with disabilities and beneficiaries of family pensions (all these categories benefit from this decision, only if they are not simultaneously part of more than one pension scheme from which receive regular income). “They will also be temporarily included in the schemes and will benefit all those who failed to renew their claims in the first two months of 2020. This means a total of an additional 13 million euros.”
