On Saturday, in Zubin Potok, the building of the Vehicle Registration Centre was set on fire, while in Zvecan, according to Kurti, there was an attack, with hand grenades, on the vehicle registration building, but they did not explode.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has said that the attacks on the Vehicle Registration Centres in Zubin Potok and Zvecan are actions instigated by Serbia.

Preliminary investigations show that the burning of the Vehicle Registration Center building in Zubin Potok was not accidental but intentional. Two hand grenades were also dropped in Zvecan, also in the building of the same vehicle registration center, but fortunately they did not explode. Individuals or groups whose rule of law and public order endanger criminal activity are attacking our state and disturbing the peace. They are clearly encouraged and supported by Serbia, namely the autocratic regime there. Unfortunately, in the eyes of the international community, Serbia is using Kosovo citizens to provoke a serious international conflict.

Albin Kurti – Prime Minister of Kosovo

Kurti has said such attacks will not be tolerated.

Kosovo Police is a professional institution that must be respected by all. I call on the citizens, especially in the north of the Ibar, whether they are Serbs, Albanians, Bosniaks or Roma, to keep calm and cooperate with the institutions of Kosovo.

Kurti finished

While the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, described those attacks as criminal acts with terrorist elements, the Prime Minister said that the attackers are being instigated by Serbia. According to him, this is a provocation for a “serious international conflict”

Sveçla urged citizens in the north “to respect the law and not to be guided or manipulated by those who survive politically, or benefit materially, only thanks to tensions.”

The incidents occurred on the sixth day of tensions in the north, with Serbs blocking border roads in Brnjak and Jarinje, as the Kosovo Government began implementing reciprocity for car license plates from Serbia. From now on, cars with Serbian license plates when entering Kosovo must obtain temporary RKS license plates at any border crossing point. The Government of Serbia has been applying this measure for the license plates of the Republic of Kosovo for over 10 years.
