The Palestinian Foreign Minister today in a statement to the Serbian media has reiterated once again the fact that his country will not recognize Kosovo.
According to him, with the establishment of the embassy in Jerusalem, Kosovo is not even a candidate country for recognition, since according to him international laws have been violated.
“Kosovo is seeking recognition from different countries, and their first step is a violation of international law. This really does not qualify them to be considered as candidates for recognition. “If Kosovo does not respect international law, then it must be a consequence,” he said.
“It is illegal under international law because there is Security Council Resolution 478 which prohibits any country from moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem or recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. “Kosovo has violated international law and the spirit of Resolution 478 since 1980,” he said.
He even says that Palestine is trying to tell other countries to refrain from recognizing Kosovo.
“It is not a matter of Kosovo-Israel relations, it is a matter of principle for us. We are looking for legal ways to approach this issue internationally, especially at the United Nations, because we will not accept this situation. We are trying to explain to many countries that they should pay attention to the recognition of Kosovo and that they should refrain from doing so because Kosovo has violated international law and harmed the Palestinian people, their fundamental right to exist and independence. “Kosovo has shown irresponsible actions that do not qualify them to be an independent state,” he said.
He even says that the Kurti government should have annulled the decision to establish an embassy in Jerusalem.
We recall that after the start of the conflict between Palestine and Israel, certain groups in Pristina had protested in favor of the Palestinian state, rallies that had received the attention of international opinion.
