Novak Djokovic’s visa to enter Australia has been cancelled by the federal government.

It came after he was held at Melbourne Airport after arriving in Australia late last night.

The Age reports a member of Djokovic’s team applied for a sub-class of visa that does not apply to people who have received medical exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine.

The granting of a medical exemption for the unvaccinated tennis star to attend the Australian Open was met with outrage by the Australian public, that have witnessed Politicians, Celebrities and Sportsmen all being exempt from taking the vaccine, while the population is being forced into being vaccinated before they can travel, even though it has now been proven that the vaccine can not protect anyone against the Omicron variant or spreading it.

The Government chose to cancel Djokovic’s visa, rather than backtracking on their policies. If Australia refuses to grant the current world champion a visa to play in the event the event should have been cancelled, until everyone was able to play on a level playing field, instead of discriminating against the healthy. This goes against human rights and the Australian Open should be cancelled. It makes a mockery of the sport.

This will now put all future international sporting events coming up in Victoria in jeopardy.  Many are calling for Victoria to be stripped of these events and moving them to NSW.
