"I am not part of the electoral race, I do not pose a political risk to anyone" Thaçi speaks from The Hague, does not comment on the new accusation

The former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, appeared before the Court today regarding the new indictment that was confirmed against him for obstruction of justice.

Thaçi did not declare on the new charges, but that Kosovo is on the verge of general elections, but added that he does not pose a "political risk" to anyone.

"Surely you know that I have been facing another court process for four years now and we have heard misinterpretations of the political and national history about the freedom of the state and the independence of Kosovo at least from 1980 until today. So it is a voluminous process. I know that the Kosovar society, my family and I are looking forward to the end of this process, we are waiting for justice, for which we also believe in justice. All of a sudden, two days ago, I was notified of the new charge by the ZPS. I know that Kosovo is on the verge of general electoral elections, but I am not part of the electoral race, I do not pose a political risk to anyone, that is why I am asking today, I believe and respect the Constitution and the laws of Kosovo, I am asking today from everyone in this room to respect the Constitution and laws of Kosovo, because the Specialized Chambers are a product of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo."

Thaçi did not comment on the new charges.

"Due to other commitments, I have not had the opportunity to essentially discuss the document confirmed by you, therefore I will declare in time within the regular constitutional and legal deadline".
